Happy InaugurationDay!

On MLK Day, the Harmon Family watched President Obama being sworn into his second term in office.  Last Inauguration Day, I cried because an African American man was taking office as President of the United States.  This Inauguration Day, I held back tears as I watched my daughter, the next generation, watch her FIRST President being sworn in and wondering if she will even realize milestone we overcame as a nation just 4 years before she was born.

In the Harmon House we consider ourselves to be Independent.  We evaluate each candidate and vote for the person regardless of party affiliation.  Though my parents and I don't always see eye to eye politics, they demonstrated to me and my sisters the importance of taking an active role in the development of our country by voting for our representatives.  I hope that Justin and I can set the same example for Lillie so that when the time comes, she will also know the importance of voting and make educated decisions for herself!  To celebrate the day, we dressed in red, white and blue!  Happy inauguration day Lillie!
