When we moved into our house, it was winter and we weren’t sure if the tree directly in front of our house was alive. We decided to wait until the spring to see if it bloomed before making the decision to cut it down. Spring is here, and while everything around us is blooming, our poor tree is not =(
Not the best picture, I know, but it's the only one I had!
My daddy is growing trees from acorns. My parents recently bought some land and they are planning on building a house on it (so proud of them!) so my daddy has started growing trees-oak trees-to transplant onto the land. I was so surprised when he gave us a tree when they came up for the open house party. What a SWEET and AWESOME gift!
So while all the girls were in the house cooking Easter Sunday lunch, the guys went outside to tinker. Tinkering meant pulling the dead tree up out of the yard.
There was some sort of wire/cable that was winding all through the ground, so all the guys took their turn digging, cutting, and ripping it out. Maybe that is what utlimately killed the tree?
Justin and I planted the tree together. I couldn't let them do all the work!
My dad wanted to play in the dirt too! He got down there to make sure that we had planted it well and packed the soil around the baby tree.
Then my dad and Justin spread mulch all around it to make sure the moisture stays in the ground to help that little booger grow.
How cool is it that this is a family heirloom tree?! I'm sure my daddy planned this. He is all about family heirlooms ;) What an awesome opportunity! We got to plant a tree in our front yard that was grown from an acorn by my dad. Now we get to watch it grow and spread its roots deep throughout our home.
