Dinosaurs Unearthed

We went to see the Dinosaurs Unearthed Exhibit at the Museum of Nature and Science at Fair Park and we saw some pretty neat stuff!  I probably went here on a field trip as a kid, but it was a whole new experience for me!  Justin really enjoyed it too!  If you haven't been, you should go!  It was well worth the ticket price.

Before we started the dino's exhibit, we toured natural wildlife of Texas.  It was really neat to see the animals, but kind of sad that these creatures were alive at some point.  We couldn't believe how gigantic this wolf was!  I DO NOT ever want to meet one of these in the wild!  Or the grizzly bear (see it in the background?)  SO HUGE!

This monster turtle was hanging over head to give you a sneak peek of what was waiting for us!  I can't describe how big this was.  I wouldn't want to swim in the ocean with that thing!  It would swallow you up in one gulp! His arm span had to be like 20 feet long.

SSSHHHHAAAAARRRRKKKKK!  This is a prehistoric shark jaw.  It is 9 ft x 11 ft.  Yep, you read that right.  I could not stop staring at how big this thing was!  If the mouth was this big, can you image how big the shark was?!  EEK!

Here's a life size T-Rex.  Even thought this was a robotic dino, it still was a little freaky watching this thing move and roar.  Kinda made me want to run! They also had a life sized triceratops which was really cool to watch...and not as scary ;)

One cool thing you can do with almost all the the down scaled robotic dinos is play with the control box that makes them roar and makes them move their head, arms and tail.  With this dino, you could press a button and listen to it "sing."  Her singing sounded more like "mmmm....you look like my supper!"

Remember the Raptors from Jurassic Park?  That's what's staring you in the face right now.  You better make a run for it!  These 2 dinos had a feather top coat.  It was pretty neat to see all the detail work and colors coming through the feathers.  Fun fact of the day: Scientist now believe that baby t-rex's were born with feathers on their body and they shed them as they age revealing their scaly skin. Learned that at the exhibit!
